![]() Thankfully I was able to delete an old iPhone backup I had and freed up plenty of space. We investigated and it seemed I had about 2 gigabytes less storage than the 35 gig needed to install. Thankfully I’m now back to my normal desktop. I got to my login screen and it let me log in. I selected my Macintosh disc and connected to WiFi, which it somehow let me do. What we ended up trying was turning my laptop off with the power button, then holding the Option key (without turning it back on). It got to where in recovery when I tried to reinstall Big Sur it wouldn’t let me connect to WiFi and was giving me a “Keychain ‘System’ cannot be found to store ” error. UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Apple. Luckily I have iCloud backups of all my documents but this is the laptop I use for grad school. Can anyone offer any help please? I was up half the night trying to fix this. Most people online seemed to resolve this by just turning it off and back on again or one of the steps I followed above. I’ve tried restarting the laptop multiple times and letting it count down to finish the installation but it keeps doing the same thing. Tried the option of installing a second version of Big Sur from recovery menu and it says I don’t have enough space on the disc to do it. ![]() I ran first aid multiple times, it said everything was good, restarted and still doing the same. I even let it try sitting on the “less than a minute” screen overnight to see if it’d finally work, and this morning it had an error message saying “an error occurred preparing the software update.”Īfter looking this up online I’ve tried starting in safe mode but the computer just turns off. It did the same thing, counting down time for the install and then stuck on less than a minute. ![]() It keeps getting stuck on “less than a minute remaining.” After it stayed on that screen for 30 minutes I tried turning the laptop off and back on using the power button. It downloaded fine and started to install. Last night I decided to finally install Big Sur iOS on my MacBook Pro (bought new from Apple late 2016). ![]()
